Privacy Policy

Last updated July 2026

This policy explains what information Halfland collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and readable on purpose. By using Halfland you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

  • Account information you give us — name, role, email, phone, profile photo, and location.
  • Content you create — posts, comments, listings, expert questions, messages, and the photos and videos you upload.
  • Activity — likes, follows, saves, community memberships, and searches, so the app can show relevant content and real counts.
  • Technical data — basic request and session information needed to keep you signed in and to keep the service secure.

How we use your information

  • To run the core features — the feed, marketplace, communities, chat, and search.
  • To show accurate information — every count you see (likes, comments, members, followers) is derived from real activity, not invented.
  • To keep the community safe and to prevent abuse.
  • To respond to you when you contact support.

What we don’t do

We don’t sell your personal information. We don’t show third-party advertising trackers. Your content is visible according to the privacy setting you choose — Everyone, Only My Contacts, or Only Selected Groups.

Photos and videos

Media you upload is stored on our object storage and served over HTTPS so it can be shown in your posts, listings and messages. Only a reference to each file is kept in our database. Deleting the post or listing removes it from view.

Retention and security

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your data is removed from Halfland immediately and cleared from encrypted backups as they rotate, within 30 days; we retain only records the law requires us to keep, such as those needed for tax or fraud-prevention obligations. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. We take reasonable measures to protect your information, though no online service can promise perfect security.

Your rights

You can access and correct your information from your profile, and you can delete your own posts, comments and listings at any time.

Deleting your account or your data. You can do either yourself, without contacting us, on the Delete your account page — also reachable in the app under Settings → Delete account. Choose to remove your account and all associated data, or to remove everything you have published while keeping your account. That page lists exactly what is deleted and what is kept. If you cannot sign in, email [email protected] from the address on your account and we will complete the request within 30 days.
